Tobias Euler is an interdisciplinary artist, musician, and researcher working at the intersection of sound, robotics, and installation. After studying Fine Arts, Mechatronics, and Interaction Design at the Bauhaus University Weimar, he deve-loped an artistic practice that uniquely merges disciplines.
His immersive installations engage all the senses and interact with visitors. Sound plays a central role in his work: using microprocessor-controlled circuits, algorithmic and interactive compositions, as well as mecha-tronics and robotics, Euler creates kinetic sound machines. He experiments with microtonal beats, explores the boundary between disharmony and familiar acoustics, and creates novel sound worlds. His installations evolve organically, occupying and transforming spaces, keeping them in a permanent state of flux.
In addition to his solo works, he has developed interactive scenographic sound installations for theater artists Tom Wolter and Santiago Blaum, as well as for the theater group Showcase Beat Le Mot. These works have been shown at Hebbel am Ufer Berlin, Schauspiel Frankfurt, Brut Wien, Gessnerallee Zurich, and Residenz-theater Munich, among others.
Together with Veit Sprenger (performing arts) and Thies Mynther (musician, composer, producer), he created the interdisciplinary project Moon Machine. This robotic orchestration installation, inspired by the American composer Moondog, was presented at Kunsthalle Münster, Kampnagel Hamburg, Ars Electronica Linz 2020, and Mousonturm Frankfurt/Main 2021.
In an elaborate solo exhibition, Tobias Euler presented his sound installation Sounds of Hyphae and Mycelia at the Parochialkirche Berlin in 2022. This project was supported by the BBK Neustart Kultur program. In 2024, he followed with the installation Nachhall, which commemorated the victims of National Socialist terror. The artist developed digitally controlled sound objects from accordion fragments, a symbol for the persecuted groups during the National Socialist regime. The collage of historical sound material, everyday noises from the 1930s, and the sounds of the accordion machines invited an associative engagement with a chapter of Berlin's history that is at risk of being forgotten.
